Mehr News Agency (MNA), was founded on June 22, 2003 as a private, non-official media outlet. Initially, the agency offered its services in Farsi (Persian) and English, but it later added an Arabic language service on January 4, 2004. The name "Mehr" translates to "kindheartedness" in Persian. Today, MNA offers its news in six languages: Persian, English, Arabic, Turkish, Urdu, and German. The agency has stringers in Europe, South America, Turkey, East Asia, and some Persian Gulf littoral states and is planning to expand its network of correspondents in the near future.
